Honored as 2006 Woman Writer of the Year by the National Association of Artists in her native Nicaragua, DAISY ZAMORA is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Central American poetry. She lives in Managua and San Francisco. Daisy was a combatant in the National Sandista Liberation Front and at one time was in exile in Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica. Upon her return, Zamora served as the Vice-Minister of Culture and as the executive director of the Institute of Economic and Social Research. Her most recent book is No-Man’s Land, Everybody’s Land, and her poems, essays and translations have been translated into more than 14 languages and have appeared in more than 50 anthologies. She also translates the poems of George Evans into Spanish, and was featured on Bill Moyers’ PBS program, The Language of Life.
