Poet Biography

Sasha Pimentel Chacòn

SASHA PIMENTEL CHACÒN was born in Manila, The Philippines. Her first book will appear this year and is called Insides She Swallowed. She is an Academy of American Poets prize winner and a former Philip Levine Fellow. She edits the bilingual multi-cultural journal BorderSenses. Her poems have been published in Callaloo, Colorado Review, OCHO, and The Florida Review. The publication this year in American Poetry Review of her poem, “Blood, Sister” made it necessary for this Festival to welcome this young new poet. Sasha lives in the border community of El Paso-Ciudad Juarez with her author husband, Daniel Chacon. She teaches at the University of Texas at El Paso.
