Sasha Pimentel Chacón

Born in Manila and raised in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, Sasha Pimentel Chacón is a Filipina-American poet and author of Insides She Swallowed, winner of the 2011 American Book Award.

Recipient of the Ernesto Trejo prize and the Philip Levine scholarship, she is an assistant professor in the Bilingual MFA (Spanish-English) and director of undergraduate studies in the Department of Creative Writing at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she teaches modern American poetry and poetics.  She lives in El Paso, on the border of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
